Ordering a cam profile design from Ingram Engineering is easy. It can all be done online or over the phone if you like. I do prefer to use email when dealing with numbers because it helps avoid any misunderstanding. If you know the specifications of the profile you want just supply me with that information in the form below. If you are not sure about what you need I will try to help you. After I have all the necessary information I will run some numbers and send you the results of the initial design. At that point we can make some changes or continue on and complete the design. Each standard cam profile design is very affordable at $88 so you can create a new series of cam profiles or add to an existing one. More involved designs taking more time will be $60 per hour. When your order is finished I will email an invoice with PayPal that can be paid online. No PayPal account is necessary. Online payment can also be made with Zelle.
I will then send all of the design data to you. The standard design data will consist of the opening and closing input data for the profile ramps, tappet and base circle diameters, the complete profile lift table in one degree increments showing the lift, velocity, acceleration, jerk, pressure angle, and radius of curvature. There is also a summary showing the duration at various lift points, total area, minimum and maximum output values, and valve lash information. Also furnished with each cam profile design is an .s96 and a Landis .p file. The Landis .p file is for the popular Landis cam grinding machines. The .s96 file will work with most other CNC machines. The lift table can always be entered manually into any CNC machine. The output data along with the input data is in the United States customary units of measure. No metric data. Sample files of what you will receive are available upon request.
You can now manufacture camshafts with profiles that are properly designed for specific components and applications. No more having to use copied profiles or profiles that are not exactly what you need. Your cam profiles and all of the design data is exclusive to you and will be kept completely confidential and secure.

Early MS-DOS program that was one of the few cam profile design programs in existence at the time. This program was used to design the Reed cam profiles in the 1980's that were used by the dominate NASCAR teams. Runs best on computers using Windows 95 or 98 or a MS-DOS operating system with printer. Will also work with DosBox-X on modern computers. Program can be shipped or emailed. See the "CAM TALK" entry and all the program lessons (starting January 2024) for more information.
$110 - shipped or emailed
Original designs of the popular Reed Cams, Inc. profiles. Many different lobe profiles for various applications that still work great today. No more having to use old and inaccurate copies. See lobe profile catalog.
$88 - complete lobe design data
$50 - Landis .p file only
$50 - .s96 file only
Spreadsheet program that calculates valve opening and closing events for symmetrical and asymmetrical cam profiles. Needs profile lift table data. Allows the user to print a valve timing sheet to go with the camshaft. Runs on Microsoft Excel or compatible program. Instructions included. See sample.
